Printer Troubleshooting
Unable to Print
- Confirm that the printer is on, has paper, and is connected to the network.
- If you cannot print to the printer from another computer, try restarting any switches which the printer and computer are connected to (& then restart the printer).
- Otherwise, continue below with the appropriate operating system.
OS 10:
- Go to Applications / Utilities / Print Center or Printer Setup Utility (OS 10.5 or greater: System Preferences / Print & Fax).
- From the list that appears, double-click the problem printer.
- If the 'Start Jobs' icon appears, click it.
- Otherwise, if the print job appears in the lower box, but it doesn't print, select the print job, then click 'Delete'.
- Try printing again.
OS 9: If you open a printer's window and see the alert, "Printer Queue is Stopped" then
- Choose 'Start Print Queue' from the 'Printing' menu.
- In a minute or two, the jobs should begin to print; if not, delete the topmost job in the queue by hiliting the job and clicking the trash can in that same window.
- You may have to repeat step 2 or possibly even step 1.
If the problem persists,
- Restart the computer from which you were unable to print.
- If you still can't print, the printer may need to be 're-installed' - contact the network coordinator.
