PAINTING

For those who "just want to paint"...you will learn to stretch and prepare a canvas, and paint in oils, acrylics, watercolor, oil stick, using such fancy-sounding techniques as sgraffitto, scumbling, glazing, alla prima, impasto, under painting. Find out how to use the different qualities of each kind of paint for different effects and ideas. There will be demonstrations of techniques and approaches to subject matter ( still-life, portrait, landscape, abstract, fantasy/allegory, etc)which you will put into practice as well as create your own projects. We will also experiment with combining mediums. Looking at Art by others will be important whether in books, galleries, or with visiting artists. Limited to 10-12 students
