Regular Session of the Board of Trustees
Monday, September 28, 2009
Minutes
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 6:05 p.m. The motion was made to go directly into Executive Session, the vote was unanimous.
Members present: Heidi Schmidt, Bill Bogdanovich, Robert Dwyer, Josh Stewart, Norm Michaud, Lori LaBarge, Marion Hobbs, Carole Ridley, Stefanie Fournier, Kathie Grenon, Scott Baron, Kathy McNamara, and Diane Titcomb. Members absent: Chris Wells, Allison Graham, and Bernie Lynch.
The regular session of this meeting resumed at 7:05 p.m.
The minutes of the Executive Session meeting on Sept. 21, 2009 were approved. The minutes of the Regular Session on Aug. 24, 2009 will be approved at the Oct. 5, 2009 meeting.
Directors Report
-Kathy explained school was off to a good start, with full enrollment in all 3 grades.
-Natures' Classroom was a wonderful bonding experience for the sixth grade students and teachers.
-The all- school Sea Camps will be this Thurs. and Fri.
-The Charter Renewal Site visits take place Oct. 13 -16. Various Focus groups are scheduled to meet with the Renewal group throughout this period. The Boards' Focus Group will be held on Oct. 14 at 8 a.m. Kathy encouraged all of us to attend. Kathy does not foresee any problems in regard to the site visits.
-The Parents' Association will meet Wed. the 7th of October.
-Kathy has invited Rep. O'Leary to visit the school and talk to the staff and Board, possibly on Oct. 26th or 27th.
Building Committee Report
-The Site committee has become the Building Committee. Most of the members of the Site committee have been retained. Bill Bogdanovich is the Chairman. This committee will meet before the regular Board meetings.
Finance Report
-Stefanie explained we still have no indication whether a budget cut is coming from the state.
-The school has been awarded a thirty thousand dollar REAP grant. If there are no cuts from the State, the Finance Committee is hoping this money may be use to restore salaries.
Faculity Report
-Josh reported the Knighthorse Theater Company will be coming to preform The Tempest in Nov.
-60 students are participating in the Fall sports program.
-76 sixth grade students participated in the week long Natures' Classroom program in N.H. and all had a fantastic time.
-Finally, Josh read a letter from Daniella Garran saying the pay cut is causing difficulty for faculty and staff and asking the Board to keep the restoration of salaries uppermost in mind. Kathy McNamara affirmed this, and asked that the Board keep the salary issue on the agenda and in the Finance Comm. report each month.
New Business
There was no new business.
Heidi closed the meeting by thanking the Board members for the incredible effort they put forth.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
