General:
All - Have you seen our January 2012 newsletter?All - The first meeting for the Relay for Life Team will be this Wednesday, Feb 8, right after school in Mrs. Wilkinson's room. This first planning session should last about half an hour. Please be sure you have a ride home. Parents, love to have you take part!
Applications - Applications are now being accepted for students entering 6th grade in September 2012. The application deadline is Monday, February 13, at 12 noon. No applications will be accepted after this time. Siblings of students currently enrolled at CCLCS must submit an application by the deadline as well.
Next Ski Trip: March 3 - No buses were available for a February 11 ski trip. Next trip March 3.
Pampered Chef Fundraiser - This is a fundraising opportunity for CCLCS. We know that people love Pampered Chef products. And it's easy! Just go to www.pamperedchef.biz/deborahkimball and click on "shop online". Then enter CCLCS as the organization. You will be brought to the catalog pages and you can place your order. Be sure to click the box that says "ship to customer" so your order will be shipped right to your door! Please feel free to share this with others who love Pampered Chef. Student Art Exhibit - Drawing, paintings, prints and sculpture created by our 6th, 7th and 8th grade art classes as well as Art Spark after school arts enrichment program creations are currently on view at the Wellfleet Public Library. There will be an Artist Reception Sunday, February 12, from 2-4 p.m. at the Library.
Workshop for Parents - The Title I Dissemination Project will sponsor its 35th Annual Conference at the Best Western Royal Plaza in Marlborough, MA, on March 5th and 6th. Parental involvement is encouraged and welcomed, and as a parent, you can attend the conference for free. Some of the workshops of interest include: Parent Involvement Workshop, Effective Parent Engagement, Foundations for Parent Engagement, Social/Emotional Learning Strategies, Tutoring for Reading Achievement, Reading Strategy Instruction, Using Praise to Enhance Learning Communities, Combatting Summer Regression, Using Technology to Enhance Parent Involvement. If interested, informational flyers are on the board in the foyer, or ask Mr. Niles or Mrs. Amaru!
Music:
Band - Mrs. Doriss sent an email to students inviting them to participate in a Band Workshop on February 15. If you received the email, please confirm your participation by this Wednesday, February 8th. We will travel by van and be gone from 8:30 until 2. Please bring a bag lunch and drink.String Ensemble - Strings! see you all every Monday during tutorial. This week's schedule:

THURS, 2/9 is FIRST VIOLIN SECTIONAL @ 7:30 in the Studio for Tess, Emma, Clare L., Lauren, Gabe and Will.

Seminars:
Mock Trial - The CCLCS Mock Trial seminar will leave at 1 p.m. this Wednesday to observe Sturgis Charter Public School (and a number of CCLCS Mock Trial alums) in their Mock Trial at Barnstable Courthouse. Students will need to be in good academic standing in all classes to and are responsible for collecting all missed work and homework from teachers. Expected return to CCLCS: 4 p.m. If you want to pick your student up at the Courthouse, please email Mrs. Donnan at jd (at) cclighthouseschool.org.Schedule for Music Man - This is the basic schedule for our school musical "The Music Man." We are trying to put the majority of the show together during seminar, but we MUST have some extra rehearsals to get the job done. We are counting on parents to help. Beyond what you see here, there may be individuals who are asked to stay after school to work on a specific number.

Show week--March 5-10
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday--we will be over at the Cape Repertory theater every afternoon. Rehearsals will end at 5:15. Please be prompt picking up your student. Please arrange now to get your student excused from any after school activities others than the show.
Friday March 9--three performances. Two for the school and one for the public. Evening show is at 7:30. Please deliver your thespian by 6. Cost is $5 for each ticket, cash or check to CCLCS.
Saturday March 10. Matinee at 2. Deliver students by 12:30. This show is a BENEFIT for the music program as we look forward to our move next fall. Cost is $10. ALL proceeds will go towards supporting the whole music program at CCLCS, not just the musical.
Saturday March 10, evening performance at 7:30. Deliver student by 6. Ticket price $5.
Other Musical related business.
We NEED parent volunteers for each performance backstage.
We NEED parents willing to help us with costuming, props and scene work.

Grade 6:
All - A huge thank you to Warren Nash who came in to talk with the 6th graders last week about growing up in Southern Africa!Immunization Clinic - Will be held tomorrow 2/7 during first period, for participating students.
Grade 7:
Social Studies - Some great looking Egypt projects came in today; I look forward to reading all of the archaeologists' journals! PLEASE NOTE that the in class essay has been rescheduled for this week. ALL of the pre-writing and writing will take place in class. Also, a study guide went home today for next Tuesday's test. We will review in class next Monday.Spanish - There will be a chapter 2 test on Monday, Feb13. Gracias!
Grade 8:
Spanish - The students will be assigned a chapter 7 project this week, which will be due on Wednesday of next week (Feb 15th). Gracias!Club Schedules:
Art Spark II - Registration forms for Art Spark II will be available in the office at the end of the week.Sewing Club - Sewing Club will meet again this Thursday after school from 2:45-4:30. Please bring fabric and project ideas! Don't forget to sign up on the office door!
